History

I had my first experience with piracy when I was 12 (1995). A good acquaintance of mine gave me a small transmitter with a few watts and I became a fan of piracy. With an indoor antenna system I transmitted a lot. In the beginning my parents wouldn't let me put an antenna on the side of the house but on a certain moment my dad was fed up with me bugging him about it and he finally let me. I also got a heavier transmitter.

In 1998 a neighbour pirate offered me to sell me his whole studio with antenna and transmitter for a nice price. After a lot of holiday jobs I finally made enough money to take his offer. A 25 meter tower came on the side of the house with two nice dipols.I broadcasted a request program on a weekly basis untill the ninth of June when the door rang and mr. van Essen of the what then used to be called the RCD (Radio Controle dienst or Radio Control Service) and confiscated my transmitter. A couple of weeks later I started again with a small transmitter but it soon got a lineair behind it.

Up untill today I am still now and then active on the three meter band. A good friend of mine with who I'm transmitting inside a team on the three meter band advised me to go on shortwave for a change and I decided to try it. In the beginning of 2006 I managed to buy a beautiful and very nice looking Sk-010 of a good acquaintance of mine and half way 2006 I started with the broadcasts.

In the meantime I expanded this hobby a little and I am also the owner of a Sk-050 of Rohde and Schwarz. I chose the name Radio Brandaris International because my girlfriend is born on the beautiful island of Terschelling where this oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands is located. The Brandaris is also known as "De Toer".
